Some of the more common questions are answered below:
Q) What is the life expectancy of my epoxy floor?
25+ years ! We use Arizona Polymer Flooring. APF has been around the longest, and this is the exact same epoxy we use for our industrial and commercial customers. Compare this to competitor’s epoxy life expectancy of 10+ years as stated on their FAQ page. In 25 years if you have worn the topcoat you can simply reapply a clearcoat. Hot tire pickup is never an issue with our floors.
Q) How long before I can walk on the floor?
We will need 2 days construction time.
Q) How is the garage floor prepped prior to putting down the epoxy?
Preparing the concrete is the most important step in the installation process. First, any cracks or holes in the concrete will be repaired. Next we clean and prep the entire floor with a dust free diamond grinder, for a superior bond, this is recommended by all quality manufacturers. Acid washing is inadequate, is toxic, must legally be contained, and may leave the concrete smooth, (many have reported epoxy blistering due to acid washing). Acid-water will not penetrate oil spots. The concrete needs a roughed profiled surface to grip to, this opens the pours and allows the epoxy to penetrate the slab, this is absolutely necessary for the epoxy to stay maintenance free for the life of the floor, and this is why we mechanically diamond grind the entire surface and back it up with a strong warranty.
Q) Is the surface UV resistant, will it yellow?
A. All our epoxies & polyurethanes have UV inhibitors in them, and will never turn yellow.
Q) I currently have old epoxy on the floor, can you get it off?
Yes, we can get anything off the floor with the diamond buffer, including epoxy, oil, cement, you name it.
Q) What do you recommend using to clean my floor? Is the floor slippery?
We recommend using 5 ounces of ammonia per gallon of water in a bucket along with a damp mop to clean the floor. This method will provide a slip-resistant surface.
Q) How long will my new floor last?
Our floors have a trouble free life expectancy of 25+ years without needing an additional topcoat. The combination of our preparation techniques and quality of product ensure that you will have a beautiful garage floor to enjoy for many years to come. We use Arizona Polymers, which has been in business the longest.
Q) Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We have a 10 year warranty. We warranty our work against flaking, peeling & discoloration for a period of 10 years. If you ever strike damage the floor it can be easily repaired and you won’t be able to tell it was patched.
